Master Churchyard and Burials Register

This site may be of help if you want to discover whether an individual was buried in the Oxhill churchyard or a memorial can still be found there. There is one churchyard:

With help from many people in the community, the Oxhill who undertook a project to record the burials and memorials in Oxhill churchyard.

The results are displayed in three linked databases:-

  1. The Burial Register Database shows entries in the Oxhill burial registers, fully searchable by name or date of death. The original registers start in 1568 and are kept in the Warwickshire County Record Office. Over time the database entries will be added starting this project in January 2021.
  2. The Memorial Names Database gives details of all the people mentioned on each gravestone, allowing a quick means of finding individuals and family relationships.
  3. The Memorials Database gives the location, inscriptions and other details of the existing gravestones, and leads to a photograph of each one.

 In addition we have created PDF file which shows all those found on memorials in the churchyard in alphabetical name order. The names can be those buried and relatives e.g. wife.  To view click HERE

How to use the databases 
It is not necessary to log on. Click on the search tab of either the burials register (green) database, or the memorial names (blue) database, lower down the page. Enter your search term (surname etc)
A list of possible entries will be displayed, and, if the grave still exists, you will be able to find the memorial reference number, . Entering this number in the search box of the third (purple) memorials database will allow you to read all that is known about the grave, and (when the site is complete), see a photograph and a map position.
